How to stop programs automatically running on Windows XP when you start PC

Question:
I have installed a lot or programs, this can slow down My computer at startup and I really don't like waiting.

Whenever I start up my computer, there are a ton of programs opening up right away. It takes forever before I can use my computer, because I have to wait for all programs. Before I can even get to work, I have to close them all down to get more space free. How can I stop these programs automatically starting up with my computer?

Answer:
This is a problem that troubles many computer users. As time goes by and you install more software,computer starts to get bogged down. Many of the programs installed on your PC may have, by default, set themselves to run each time your PC starts.

Don't you think that you should make decisions about your software, instead of letting your software make decisions for you? In fact, you can stop programs from starting automatically by removing them from your system's Startup List. You can access and edit the Startup List through a program called "System Configuration Utility", or "msconfig".

To get into msconfig, follow these steps as below:
Click Start->Click Run

Type msconfig->Click OK

When the System Configuration Utility window opens, look at the set of tabs across the top of the window. Find the last tab, labeled "Startup", and click it. This will show you the Startup List, which contains all of the items that start automatically when you boot your computer and Windows begins to load.

Note: You must restart Windows before the changes will take effect.
Warning! You should decide beforehand which programs you want to remove from the startup list. Otherwise, you may lose some system functionality.

Enjoy your wonderful PC experience!
